I have a sketch pad and I draw in that. Once I am satisfied that the work is complete then I scan them into photoshop . Only use the computer to sharpen the images for display.
Oh and I call my work abstract ink art because I design in gel pen. It yields a much bolder color than ball points and writes smooth! I know gel is different from regular ink but it looks better for what suits me!
